Before you begin
- Use your own schedule or a privately shared schedule where you have edit access.
Choose a preset, a color, or no background
Open Style > Background > Presets. On a phone, find Appearance under Schedule tools.
Choose a nature preset, a gradient, or Custom color for a solid color. Nature presets, solid colors, and No background are free.
Choose a preset in Style → Background. This example uses a built-in gradient.
Gradients require Pro. On Free or as a guest, you can preview them without saving. The 30-second countdown starts when you close Style, then your previous background returns.
Existing saved gradients and abstract backgrounds still display on Free. Abstract presets are no longer offered in the picker.
Search for a Pixabay photo
Open Style → Background → Search. On mobile, find Appearance under Schedule tools.
Type a subject, such as mountains or flowers, then pause briefly. Photos appear automatically.
Scroll down through the photos to see more results, then select a photo to apply it.
On Free or as a guest, photos are temporary previews, not saved backgrounds. The 30-second countdown starts when you close Style, then your previous background returns.
With Pro, selecting a photo saves a copy to the schedule owner’s image storage. Invited editors use the owner’s Pro access and quota. Saved Pixabay photos, uploads, and branding images share 10 images and 25 MiB per owner, with a 5 MiB limit per image.
Use Photos from Pixabay beside the search field to visit Pixabay. Before reusing or publishing a photo, check its Pixabay Content License and any permissions needed for recognizable people, logos, or artwork.
If a photo cannot be saved, your background stays unchanged. Retry, or search again if the results have expired. If storage is full, contact support; removing a background does not immediately free storage.
Adjust opacity and blur
With a background applied, open Adjustments inside Style > Background.
Set Opacity from 5% to 100% and Blur from 0 to 20. Lower opacity or more blur can make a detailed image less distracting.
Use Adjustments to control how strongly the background appears behind events. Check event titles, times, and grid lines on the actual schedule. Adjust the theme or event colors if the text is still hard to read.
Upload your own image (Pro)
For your own schedule, uploads require a signed-in Pro account. Invited editors can upload to a privately shared schedule using its owner’s active Pro access.
- Use a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image, up to 5 MiB per file (shown as Max 5 MB in the picker).
- Images must be no larger than 8,192 pixels in either dimension and 40 megapixels in total.
- Background and branding uploads share a limit of 10 images and 25 MiB total per owning account.
Only upload images you have permission to use, and avoid sensitive content. Private collaborators can see the applied background; if you publish the schedule, anyone with its active public link can see it too.
Open Style > Background > Upload.
Select Click or drop an image here to choose a file, or drop an accepted image onto that area. Wait for the upload to finish.
The uploaded image becomes this schedule’s background. Open Adjustments to tune it, then check that the events remain readable.
If an upload fails, your current background stays unchanged. Check the connection and file limits, then try again. If you reach the account-storage quota, contact support; removing a background from the schedule does not immediately delete its stored file. Do not clear browser data while you have unsaved work.
Remove the applied background
Open Style → Background → Presets and select No background. For an uploaded image, you can also select Remove in Upload. The schedule no longer shows that background; this does not immediately delete the stored image or free its account-storage quota.
Keep the original image for backups
Uploaded images are stored with the schedule owner’s account and are available across devices. Collaborator uploads use the owner’s storage too.
A JSON backup can contain a background reference, but it does not embed the uploaded image file. Importing a backup removes custom-background references, so keep the original image and upload it again after importing.
